I started out freelancing at TokyoPop in the spring of 2002 as a letterer. After I graduated, TokyoPop was one of the first to reply back during my post college job hunt, and the rest is history.
Designs in TokyoPop go through about 5 sets of eyes. The Art Director, Editor, Marketing Manager, CEO, and finally licensor. These are the approved designs that have been approved by all 5.
Most of the projects were cover and logo work. When starting a new property, Designers are required to create a new series logo in addition to designing the full cover (front, back, spine)

---------------------- final note ------------------------
Most of my experience in the japanese animation industry come from my comic layout and retouch work.
Oddly enough, I've been approached 3 times by different upstart companies about my work as a comic retouch artist to help develop their line of japanese comics, so guess I have unique and desirable knowledge about this type of work haha! I had compiled a small guide for one such company to help them decide which sort of retouch work they wanted to go with available here.
The following is a list of the books I worked on sorted by company.
created with QuarkXPress, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign

TokyoPop:
· Angelic Layer volume 3
· Brigadoon volume 2
· Card Captor Sakura: Master of the Clow(2002) volumes 1-3, 5-6
· Chobits volume 3
· Peach Girl: Change of Heart volume 1
· Wish volumes 1-4
UPDATE: During my time inhouse at TokyoPop, the list of TokyoPop books grew longer. So much longer that it would be futile to keep track of them all, so I leave this list un-updated for now~
