our dept trains the current 2-D/traditional animators to use the 3-D software, Maya. We also train them how to navigate the DreamWorks file system in LINUX etc....
i specifically just sit in the training sessions and learn maya =p....also on the side i'm supposed to revamp their website with all the training manuals =p

well, it's been boiling up for a couple of days...this urge to draw arwen and galadriel...REALLY slacked off on it, esp w/the coloring and lines...i just wanted to get it out of my system before the new week started...and it's out! hopefully...i had a couple of frodo scenes in my head too, but gave those up easily =p...lets see what the end of the book brings!
there's a free employee screening of Seabiscuit(sp?) that i'm unfortunately going to miss once again to lack of car...roommate is at work..don't really want to ask ex-roommate...alice is rehearsing for friday's gig...well, plus it's @8pm so i'll get home at 11ish? and then have to wake up early the next day for work...nuh uh..no way...but still...i heard for the sinbad one they had a party and stuff...free food! dinner!
speaking of food, or lack thereof...i wasjust doing fine and dandy about not having dinner or much of a lunch today, and even told fan i feel like i could wait until i get to work tomorrow to eat...but then i think my neighbors had a bbq or sorts and the smells of meats came wafting in....*drool*....that got me SOOO freakin HUNGRY!! hara hetta!...it smelled like those hillshire farms sausages! those lil'smokies!! *grumble*....my insides are eating themselves...gah!....i'm crawling on the floor here for MEAT!...gah...gah...*slobbers over hardwood floors*
well, at least i have my gogo no kocha...but it's no meat...
roommate is off at happy family, a vegetarian restaurant with KILLER FOOD!...she went with her friend..she always goes with her...perhaps i'm jealous cuz THEY GET TO EAT?!!....*sigh* i guess i'm not sophisticated enough for her company....
speaking of sophisticated...looking through my closet today (putting away my laundry) and realized all i have are t-shirts!....looks like the t-shirt rack at pac sun or something....i really need to diversify my wardrobe...
wow....my weekends are really eventless...oh..i found out that free anime con in little tokyo is AUG 17...it wasn't this weekend...so all day sunday i spent vegetating in the apt....
wah...so hungry...i didn't want to resort to this, but i think i have some stale taco shells that's edible...i always have stale shells cuz i never have enough ground beef to eat all the shells =p...stale meaning i havent cooked tacos in about 4 months?....it's something though...ANYTHING!!...mommy...

<- here are scans of the postcards that came with vol.3....i need to get vol 1and2="p...yun" kouga is my 4th fav shoujo artist (CLAMP, yukiru sugisaki, Mineko Ohkami, YK)...but she might edge out mineko...if only for cleanliness of lines="p...so" i got it only cuz it was her="p...yikes" for spontaneous shopping...

omg, this week went by pretty quickly
so, went to my second intern lunch and concluded that they ARE very sorority/fraternity and business people....totally not my crowd...i bond more with amy, the tech director intern, and the older interns...most of the interns are from USC! and also, they all dress so biz...dress shirts, trendy skirts, slacks type deal...all chattering away like networking biz people, fake and enthusiastically....i dunno...that's why i hate the biz world....i'll stick to the animators...they're so much more fun!
so, dreamworks records exec was the speaker today...got powerman 5000, catch me if you can and cooler kids CDs...also had to take an intern picture at the lagoon but it was sprinkling!...i hate pictures =(
i'm thinking about putting up a separate blog for talking about my internships/jobs because i hate to bore people with complaints about DW or TP or DB if they didn't want to know...
anyway, i wanted to watch a movie this sat at Santa Monica, but i'm afraid that since that farmer's market accident, it'll be blocked off...it happened really close to the theater i would see it at...i guess 10 ppl died...
other than that, i'll prob go to the little tokyo nisei week and the free anime con on sun =p...just to see how it is =p
today my roommate is off to work, so maybe i can squeeze in a doodle or two while she's away...i'm so secretive, but why?...i think it's cuz if they see me doing it, it's embarrassing....also, she nitpicks a lot like she's an artistic expert....but then, my stuff IS probably that bad...but she doesn't have to say it! *sniff* HECK! she complains about CLAMP though...i just think she doesn't know how to appreciate styles and evolution...she likes RGVeda though.
anyway...happy thoughts happy thoughts...will go to fanime cuz getting group discount! (thanks!)...possibility of AX next year if i take a ride with mbp...if she still remembers her offer a year from now =p
i wanna go somewhere for some reason...like a trip? and not have anything to worry about for a change...i think my brain is starting to tumorize =p

i saw my ex-roommate on the bus going to work today! it's his second day of training at KPMG's main office in downtown (HUGO highrise building all to themselves)...this is his JOBjob now, $60grand a year high end job....lucky bastard...we were comparing our resepctive company badges and i dawned on me that we're adults! this generation i'm in has now inherited society....and it's scary.....for the world to look to this new generation is creepy, and because it's mine, i fear i've jinxed it to failure...hopefully with people like him at big companies like that, we'll succeed...

gah...another year and still unable to go to comic con....but since i've never been, i'm not as angsty about not going than for say something like AX...also San Diego is a ton lot farther so it's less possible for me to make it there anyway...
but i was looking at the SD comic con website and i was saddened by all the goodies i will miss yet again this year...
some of panels will be showing exclusives of Return of the King!! neil gaiman is going to be in a lot of panels....also they're showing a short film someone did on the Marval Bullpen comic bits!!i LOVE Bullpen...
also there's a panel about Jim LEE! just about him, but i don't think he's appearing??...also one on one of the Kuberts...i forget, ANdy? or Adam...
yeah and also Matt Groening is going...and in the LOTR panel, they said "special guests"??!!! i'm guessing eWood or aAstin will go since it's soCal and all...also, since they'll being discussing sAstin's short doc that's included as an extra in the DVD, i think even more so that he might show up....also other celebs appearing are Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie? anwyay, enough loathing about not having a car...shouganai yo ne! next year for sure!
i think that's all i wanted to complain about for today =p for some reason i thought i had other news besides complaining...hmmm...maybe i'll remember later...

in other LA news...little tokyo is having a free anime con apparently, for Nisei week...so if anyone is going...i'll go just cuz i have nothing to do and i need to get the next Asuka...
Jen has a cool new layout up AND an IRC channel where she distros old radio shows! it doesn't work for me by unlucky chances...but it was fun just talking to them!
Ko also has a CUTE new layout up featuring TB! i love the TB!....her layouts are always so genki =)
watched MaLoRa14...cute and ODD! loki's oldest son we meet...ok, that was Yoda grammar...
just past 1/2 way through Return of the king...sweet book! maybe i'll try my way through the Silmarillion (sp?) next...or just go to HP...i still didn't read OoTP yet...
all day i animated a ping pong match....my eyes twitch like there's no tomorrow...the phrase of the day "maya is the most powerful 3D software on the planet"....why does it sound like an infomercial?

first, wanna wail on losing an auction cuz i forgot!! i wanted to get issues 01/2001 and 02/2001 of Asuka, and i found it on eBay...but i missed it by a minute cuz i was in the middle of training! WAH!...i was so mad..
anyway, while fuming at my own stupidity, i was pondering on how odd it is for guys to go to the bathroom...how weird it must be, if you're a new male employee, and say you meet a supervisor in the "john"....and there you are...er...doing your business and exposed...and there's your boss...equally exposed...i mean how embarrasing an existence is that? basically you're publically peeing...i feel fortunate to have stalls...i know guys do too...but it's generally for #2 right?...anyway, thought it was weird that in a men's room, there are guys holding themselves unashamed and possibly chatting around...who made this social tradition anyway? same person who created the classic greek symposium i guess...
do i think too much? YES! expecially when i lose an auction i REALLY wanted...i wish i set my alarm on my phone...how dumb was that?? ARGH!! *sniff*

 wow, i'm talkative today....but all i wanted to do was post this drink i bought yesterday....it's called natchan's secret...and the secret is pulp =p...i thought it was gonna be carbonated! like orange soda...but pulp is ok too i guess =p
alice took me to this COOL! chicken place just on westwood! man it was good! like el pollo locco but modernized and a little better =p....although, when she went back in line to get her boyfriend some to go, i was finishing up my mashed potatoes and licking the bowl cuz i love mah po-ta-toes....and when i looked up i saw her across the room smiling/smirking in my direction (at me?)...i think she thought i was stupid....i felt like such a dork but oh well...such is the fate of me and my potatoes...
it was nice to eat a good dinner for a change....i'll prob suggest it to my roommate since we're chicken fiends...

also, alice is picking me up from work! whoohoo! AND she's going to take me somewhere for dinner...even though i only have $5....she got mad at me for not buying groceries or eating dinner since i've been working...but that's cuz i switched my one meal to lunch! so, it's all the same where before i skipped lunch but only had dinner, now it's only lunch and no dinner....same diff..wait...she also got mad at me for the no lunch dealie...ah well...i guess she's my surrogate (sp?) mom while i'm here =p
also, i said i would forward her demo CD to the DW music department via and records intern...so we're going to go to an art store to pick up materials and such to put her portfolio dealie together...but i didn't guarantee anything cuz i'm in the wrong division...i only see the records intern once a week cuz he comes from bevhills...all the interns meet every friday only...i don't know what i can do, but i'll try my best...

in the cafeteria of the main DreamWorks campus, there swirls quietly my middle ground....now i can walk in semi-comfort from the cafeteria back to my building with a nice ICEE to counter the heat...yuUm!

today ended a nice productive weekend...
i went to little tokyo and bought milk tea and also the new DNAngel artbook...first impression was that it was very nnicely designed, but as i looked on, some of the images were hidden behind their over-design...example, they overlaid a cross over an image of Dark, revealing the image of Dark only through the cross...when you see it you'll know what i mean...oh well...still a nice artbook...
also got vol20 of mineko ohkami's Dragon Knights...
after i went to see Pirates of the Caribbean...it's a good action movie! i recommend it to anyone who's not looking for an insightful movie...i liked it cuz it was simple and i just wanted to relax and not think....simple fun and who thought guys in mascara would be so cool =p...J Depp was funny as Capt Jack Sparrow and Orli Bloom was pretty much just eye candy =p....the girl is cool too, except sometimes i was distracted by her odd mouth, but overall she was cool =p but this is my opin, and i tend to like movies and have little neg opins about them...
i rediscovered the fun of going to movies alone....back home i would always go to movies alone, but since college, because i could only go to a movie if someone else was going (rides), i became dependant on others....but now, the last 3 movies i went by myself and it was fun cuz i didn't have to try to find 2 seats and i could go at whatever time i wanted! hehehe

this morning jeffery Katzenberg (the K in DreamWorks SKG) held a meeting for all the animators....apparently Sinbad was a failure in the box office, but not in film-making...it was a semi-depressing meeting because he semi-dwelled on the subject, but he's a funny guy....but he's looking forward to all the other movies that are in production right now, so i guess all is good....i did hear some major wrongness on Disney's part regarding the release of the Incredibles vs the release of DW's Sharkslayer.....i'm starting to dislike the way disney works in business...quite dirty....but i will not speak of it here...catch me on AIM or call if you want to hear the details...
but they also announced that if you're a DW employee, they're going to offer sessions where you can pitch story ideas, and if it goes through, you get credits and rights and $100,000! whoa...too bad i don't have any ideas...
anyway, DW is having a family day in aug, and i was going to call my family, but i decided not to....it's too much of a hassle and lameness =p...don't want to deal with a family in LA, the inferno of all inferno-like dwellings....i'd only bite at them...i'm the worst me in LA...
yeah so i got my free intern bag that the interns got in ther first meeting that i missed since i was at fanime =p tackily cool i guess...
well, seems like i'm just ranting on work stuff cuz i spend 40hrs a week there...plus 20hrs a week getting there (2hrs oneway)....
will try to watch pirates of the caribbean tomorrow or sunday....maybe i'll doodle out some scenes that are stuck in my mind from reading Return of the King...
one scene i read in RotK that really struck me with Tolkien's morbid creativity, whether it came from his own war experience, or the dark recesses of his own mind, was the seige of Gondor...he describes the orcs using the heads of slain kinsmen to catapult over the walls of Minas Tirith...it was a very efficient cruelty that made me sad and slightly amused....recycling never seemed so wrong...

i have to make this quick cuz i'm already late to bed (i calculates that i should go to sleep by 10:30 at the latest to get a good enough rest so i don't doze off @work)...but i really wanted to fangirl about some things...oh and forgive my grammar and spelling...
so tokki i got your letter and OMG it's so cute!....so you DID go to that korean doujin con thingy...i forgot to ask if you were able to considering...
also, FINALLY saw matantei loki ragnarok 12! for shota fans, there's a cute little scene with loki and heimdall, heimdall is acting like a housewife...except that loki finds it disgusting =p
semi productive today on the anime front...3eps of get backers and of course MaLoRa12...i do see the fascination with Kazuki and juubei now...kazuki still holds as my fave...though ginji is rpidly speeding up there...
so far for maya training, i made a solar system, stonehenge, windmill, flower in a pot, and robot...i think i'm missing one but oh well...
also, return of the king is exciting so far!
oh yeah, thouse James Baxter animation lectures i've been going to @work..i forgot to say that James is british or aussie or irish or a scottsman...one of those...so i just obsess over his accent =p....but he's really funny and has a lot of ideas...no wonder why he's the top animator in this country...though he be not from this country per se =p...
i'm beginning to want to go from undergrad to grad and doff the whole JET idea...i don't know if i could waste a year in Japan and lose an opportunity to connect with people at DW...anyway, i'll still think on it...i have to GRADUATE first...

finished two towers...moving on to RotK (semi-cliffhanger!)
realized that when i get home, i have nothing to worry about (ie, not homework, unlike my roommate! HAH!)
went to a lecture, apparently given by one of the top animators, about character animation...quite funny...except i dozed off due to lack of sleep....
finished the design part of the website, so alls i need is content and i'm done!
sad part of this summer so far....while i was reading TT, i had so many fanarty moments, but i'm always on a bus or at work so i can't doodle...and then i forget over the weekend =p
will probably watch Pirates of the Caribbean(sp?) this weekend...
other than that, i too look forward to eveyone's return from AX =) also, looks like mako-chan had so much to fangirl about! i don't think i've ever met a celebrity and i'm in the heart of BevHills/Hollywood...i just never leave the apt =p....i will live my fangirl excitement through you =)

i check all my news on Anime On DVD...so you guys can go there to see more....but here's what i got to say:
1) ADV had DNAngel?? that'll take forever...not that the anime was very enthralling, but now there's another title i won't be seeing digisubbed :(
2) Wolf's Rain is confirmed at 30 eps?? so i prob have to wait a year to catch up since i'm only on ep21 :(
3) ADV is moving into manga?!! i guess it's the new trend...
4) i know what CLAMP titles are coming out next year, but i can't officially say...let's just say you'll "suki" them a lot...maybe =p...i don't know anything about tokyo babylon or RGVeda, i can say that at least =p...first time i talked to jake (forbes) though, he seemed to want to get RGVeda...but that was last April...
spent the 4th in santa monica...sugoku condeitta! i forgot that it was a holiday =p...i just wanted to see finding nemo =p....good movie, kinda sad and stuff =p...my co-workers were saying how finding nemo raised the bar on CG, so now they're going to have to work hard for sharkslayer since it's all in the same watery environment...
i plan on vegging for the rest of the weekend now =p

wolf's rain got licensed and i didn't get the 22nd episode cuz i was at work! WAHHH!!! now it's pulled off the servers! *dies*

i'm itching to go to AX....at one point today i said "screw it! i'm going!" i mean it's only $7 to go (2 hours 29 min on bus, train, bus)....but, had a lunch to simmer the thought down to: a) do i really want to sit that long in the sweltering heat? b) should i really be spending $50? c) is it wise to go to anaheim and not have a hotel or anywhere to stay? d) do i really want to spend 3 days in the same clothes, once again, in the sweltering heat, and surrounded by other smelly otaku? me being the smelliest of all after 3 days =p
so i reasoned it away....darn, it's so much easier to deal with it if i wasn't so close....
i guess, except for the wolf's rain being licensed, it was slightly looking up....i got my first DW paycheck, $89 (partially what made me think i could afford AX) for 2 days! not too shabby given i was gone for 10days...got free DW bag that was given out for some sorta summer motif thing....yay for free things =p
i'll use this weekend to catch up getbackers and maybe tenipuri...but i can only take so much tennis....WIMBLEDON FINALS! it's a williams sister final AGAIN!...and roddick's looking good to go for the finals....he was only broken 2 times of the last 65 games they said....impressive!

c) the stupid $58 all LA transit EZ pass i bought APPARENTLY doesn't include the big blue bus line 10....one of the 2 busses i HAPPEN to need!!!!
d) replacement ATM card STILL! not here!!
points b) through d) combine for the kicker...no ATM card means no cash except for what i have in my wallet = $7...the blue bus #10 costs $1 w/ the EZ pass, therefore i need $2 a day to get to work...3 more days of work = $6...so by end july 3 i'll only have $1....can't go to the bank cuz i work 9-5 and there's no bank in site....no ATM card so can't get cash...roommate gone so no rides...WHAT IS THIS??...*sigh*
i know TONS more people are worse off than me, but i can't help being selfish...sorry for the rant...
hope all who's going to AX has fun...i really wanted to see the cosplay...*sigh*
